Exile, Week Four Begins

Time away hasn’t been as awful as expected.

I really do want to dive into the edits for my first novel—I cannot wait to get a manuscript into the hands of my beta-readers—but the break allowed me to welcome my tiny granddaughter into the family with thoughtful attention.

The hiatus lets me refocus on the vast universe of The WitchBorn® game. Four digital deliverables await for Wailing Citadel,™ the crowdfunding project which wrapped on Gamefound last spring:

• An app update for Wailing Citadel™

• A new app for Wandering Forest™

• The Boundless Book of Bounties™ (A guide that puts all 1000+ artifacts in one place)

• A Living Rulebook version of Daughters of Twilight™ (Dark Elves)

This is an overwhelming amount of writing. Three weeks isn’t enough—though long hours will distract my pining to resume work on the novel.

I didn’t start at the top of the bulleted list but dove into number three and took a detour. I wrote a new Enter Perdition™ guidebook.

Enter Perdition is the most popular adventure for The WitchBorn by a wide margin. It’s the oldest adventure (that’s currently in print) and hasn’t been touched for at least eight years. I started by updating artifacts for The Boundless Book of Bounties—desperately needed—and found myself rewriting the entire guide.

My efforts won’t be wasted because early next year I intend to release a new Starter Set with digital guides, instead of ten printed guides. Digital allows for regular updates and the price point can dip below $100 for the debut on Gamefound.

Some highlights of what’s in the new guide:

• Gritty new graphics. The intensity is dialed up (example above)

• New solo rules with a link to a play-through on YouTube

• Expanded new artifacts, ready for The Boundless Book of Bounties

• Gameplay is no longer restricted to 300 point value clans or less

• An app update on the horizon with those gritty new graphics

This week, I’m working on apps and hope to tackle artifacts for The Pit, Another Night.™

Two and a half weeks until exile ends and I return to the novel. There’s plenty to distract me.
